The Ethics of Lust: A Panel on the Politicization of Desire | IvyQ at Brown University | February 18, 2012

Mandy speaks to audiences at high schools, colleges, nonprofits, and community events about a number of topics:

  • contemporary feminism
  • street harassment
  • sexual harassment, LGBTQ bullying, and gender-based violence in schools
  • youth organizing

As a social worker, she is trained to meet people where they are at and provide a judgement-free space in which to engage in critical dialogue. Her aim is to facilitate discussions that prompt each person to consider how they may utilize individual and community strengths to cultivate effective changemaking strategies that lead to social, political, and economic justice.

TESTIMONIALS

The program on public sexual harassment was a great way for West Chester University’s Association for Women’s Empowerment to start our own conversations about sexual harassment on campus. We deal with sexual harassment on daily basis and, prior to your program, not many students had the language to open up a conversation on the issue. The diversity in the video you showed, along with your personal experiences, allowed students in the audience to speak up about their own experiences. We definitely recommend this program to other organizations and colleges. We also look forward to working on issues of sexual harassment on our campus. - Kimberly Montes, President of Association for Women’s Empowerment
